10 Low-Capital Businesses You Can Start in 2026 (And How to Make Them Successful)

One of the biggest lies many people believe is that you need millions of money before you can start a successful business.

The truth is, money helps, but it is rarely the biggest reason businesses succeed. Every day, people are building profitable businesses from their smartphones, bedrooms, or small shops with very little capital.

What separates those who succeed from those who give up is not always money. It is consistency, creativity, and the willingness to solve real problems.

Before you spend your first naira on any business, ask yourself these four questions:

Does this business solve a real problem?

2 Are people already paying for similar products or services?

3 Can I stay committed even when I don't make money immediately?

Am I willing to keep learning and improving?

If your answer is yes, then you're already ahead of many people who are still waiting for the "perfect time."

Here are ten businesses you can start in 2026, along with practical tips to help you succeed.

1. Freelance Digital Services

You don't need an office before earning from your skills. Businesses around the world are looking for writers, graphic designers, video editors, virtual assistants, web developers, social media managers, and many other digital professionals.
If you don't have a digital skill yet, start learning one today.

There are countless free tutorials on YouTube and affordable online courses. Spend a few weeks learning and practicing instead of worrying about making money immediately.
Once you've built a few sample projects, create a simple portfolio. Even if nobody has hired you before, design sample flyers, write sample articles, or edit sample videos to showcase what you can do.

Finding clients is often the hardest part, but it's not impossible. Tell friends and family what you do. Join Facebook business groups. Use LinkedIn to connect with business owners. Register on freelance platforms and be consistent.
One mistake many beginners make is trying to charge high prices immediately. Sometimes it's better to charge reasonably at first, deliver exceptional work, collect testimonials, and gradually increase your rates.

Your customer service can become your biggest marketing tool. Respond quickly, meet deadlines, and always deliver work that exceeds expectations.

2. Mini Importation

Mini importation remains profitable because people love affordable products that solve everyday needs.
Instead of buying random items because they're cheap, research products people are already searching for.

Phone accessories, beauty products, kitchen gadgets, fitness equipment, fashion accessories, and home organizers continue to sell well.
Don't rush into ordering hundreds of products. Test the market first by buying small quantities.
One smart strategy is to post pictures and videos online before your products arrive.

Accept pre-orders from interested buyers. This reduces the risk of being left with unsold stock.
Your packaging also matters. A neatly packaged item creates a better customer experience and encourages repeat purchases.

3. Blogging

Many people think blogging is dead. It isn't.
People still search Google every day for answers.
If you consistently publish useful articles, your blog can eventually generate income through advertising, affiliate marketing, sponsored posts, and digital products.

Choose a niche you genuinely enjoy. It could be technology, business, health, finance, education, travel, or career advice.
Don't write articles just because you want traffic. Write because you want someone to finish reading your article feeling like they've genuinely learned something.

Search engines reward helpful content. Readers return to websites they trust.
If you post one quality article every week, you'll have over fifty valuable articles after one year.
That's how many successful blogs are built.

4. Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is perfect for people who enjoy recommending products.
Instead of constantly posting "Buy this" messages, focus on helping people make better decisions.
For example, if you're promoting smartphones, create comparison videos.
If you're promoting books, write honest reviews.
If you're promoting online courses, explain who they're suitable for and who they aren't.
People buy from those they trust.
Your audience should see you as someone who recommends solutions, not someone who is desperate to make commissions.
Build an email list, create valuable content, and let your recommendations happen naturally.

5. Food Delivery Business

Food will always be in demand.
You don't need to open a restaurant immediately.
Start with one or two meals you prepare exceptionally well.
You can target office workers, students, busy professionals, or families.
Consistency is more important than having twenty different meals.
Customers remember delicious food, clean packaging, prompt delivery, and excellent customer service.

Encourage happy customers to post pictures of their meals and tag your business online.
Word-of-mouth remains one of the most powerful marketing strategies in the food business.

6. Cleaning Services

Cleaning businesses require more professionalism than expensive equipment.
Many people are willing to pay for reliable cleaners who arrive on time and do quality work.
Start by offering residential cleaning before expanding into offices, schools, churches, or construction sites.

Uniforms, branded T-shirts, and identification cards instantly make your business appear more trustworthy.
Take before-and-after photos of completed jobs, with the client's permission. They make excellent marketing content.
Also, don't underestimate referrals. Offer discounts to customers who recommend your services to others.

7. Online Tutoring

If people often come to you for explanations, you already have something valuable to offer.
You can teach Mathematics, English, Coding, Graphic Design, Accounting, Digital Marketing, or almost any skill you're good at.
Start by teaching one student.

Record short educational videos and share them on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, or YouTube.
Many tutors attract clients simply because people enjoy the way they explain difficult concepts.
Eventually, you can create recorded courses, study guides, or membership communities to increase your income.

8. Poultry Farming

Poultry farming can be profitable, but only when managed properly.
Start small.
Many beginners lose money because they try to raise thousands of birds without experience.
Learn proper feeding schedules, vaccination routines, disease prevention, and record keeping before expanding.

Find buyers before your birds mature.
Hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, and food vendors often need reliable suppliers.
If possible, build relationships with them early.
Consistency in quality will keep them coming back.

9. Printing and Branding Services

Businesses always need printed materials.
Instead of buying expensive machines immediately, partner with reliable printing companies.
Focus on finding customers while your partners handle production.

As your customer base grows, you can gradually purchase your own equipment.
Offer design services together with printing.
Many customers prefer one business that can handle everything instead of moving from one place to another.
Deliver on time, communicate clearly, and pay attention to small details. Those are the things clients remember.

10. Social Media Management

Many business owners know they need social media, but they don't have the time or knowledge to manage it properly.
That's where you come in.
Learn content creation, basic graphic design, short-form video editing, copywriting, and social media analytics.

Don't just post randomly.
Study each client's audience.
Understand what their customers enjoy watching and reading.
Track which posts perform best and create more of that type of content.

To attract clients, manage one business for free or at a discounted rate in exchange for testimonials and permission to use the results in your portfolio.
Nothing attracts clients faster than visible proof.

How to Get Your First Customers
No matter which business you choose, customers won't magically appear.

Tell people what you do.

Post consistently on social media.

Ask satisfied customers to refer others.

Respond quickly to enquiries.

Deliver exactly what you promised.

Then deliver a little more. People rarely forget businesses that exceed expectations.

What Makes a Business Stand Out?

Many people sell the same products.
Very few provide the same experience.
Reply politely. Here are A few things you need to do:

1 Package your products neatly.

2 Be honest if there's a delay.

3 Keep your promises.

4 Follow up after every sale.

5 Remember returning customers. People often stay loyal because of how you made them feel, not just because of what you sold.

Starting a business is rarely about having everything figured out.
You will make mistakes. You will learn. You will adjust.

What matters is starting.
Some of today's biggest businesses began in a bedroom, a small kiosk, or with just a smartphone.

Don't allow the size of your bank account to determine the size of your ambition.
Start with what you have.

Learn every day.

Treat your customers well.

Keep improving your product or service.

One year from now, you'll either be glad you started or wishing you had.

Andy Biggs Claims Victory In Arizona GOP Gubernatorial Primary

Rep. Andy Biggs, a staunch ally of President Donald Trump who supported efforts to overturn the 2020 election results, claimed victory Tuesday night in the Republican nomination race for Arizona governor, setting up a fierce battle in November against the Democratic incumbent, Katie Hobbs.

The Biggs-Hobbs contest will be closely watched in the midterms, not only because Arizona will serve as a litmus test at the halfway mark of Trump's second presidency, but also because it is expected to remain a key battleground state in the next presidential election.

Biggs, who was backed by Trump in Tuesday's Republican primary race against Rep. David Schweikert, was the heavy favorite in the primary, and was poised to win by a landslide. According to preliminary results from the Arizona Secretary of State's Office, Biggs had secured 71.8% of the vote to Schweikert's 15.5%.

"Tonight's results show that Arizonans overwhelmingly believe in our vision and I'm grateful to have earned their support," Biggs said in a statement claiming victory in the Republican nomination race.

"As we advance to the General Election, I want to make sure every Arizonan knows this: no matter what your political party is or your background, you deserve a better leader than Katie Hobbs."

Though a seasoned politician, Biggs has long been considered a member of the Republican Party's far right and previously led the Freedom Caucus. He campaigned on GOP staples, including border issues and lowering taxes, while promoting his close ties with Trump.

Hobbs has campaigned on lowering prices and expanding affordable housing, while presenting herself as a pragmatic answer in a divided state.

Before volunteers Tuesday, Hobbs criticized Biggs over his history of election denial, calling him out for not accepting that Trump lost to President Joe Biden in 2020 and that Republican Kari Lake lost the Arizona gubernatorial election to her in 2022.

"Andy Biggs has spent years undermining confidence. He still denies the outcome of the 2020 election and refused to certify Arizona's electors, and he still won't admit who won the 2022 governor's race," she said.

"I'll save him the trouble: I did."

Donald Trump’s World Cup Disgrace Reaches New Low as Team Spain Sends a Clear Message That This Spotlight Isn’t His

President Donald Trump became one of the biggest talking points during the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, but not for the reasons he may have hoped. Instead of the focus staying on Spain’s historic victory over Argentina, much of the conversation online centred on Trump’s appearance during the celebrations, with several awkward moments quickly going viral.

Trump, 80, attended the final at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 to lift the World Cup trophy. Before the match had even kicked off, television cameras showed the U.S. president on the stadium’s giant screen, prompting loud boos from many people in the crowd. Videos of the reaction quickly spread across social media, with users debating the reception he received.

The criticism did not stop there. After the final whistle, Trump walked onto the pitch for the medal ceremony alongside FIFA president Gianni Infantino and Spain’s players. As he made his way onto the stage, another wave of boos echoed around the stadium, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere during what was supposed to be Spain’s moment of celebration.

Many viewers felt Trump remained at the centre of the stage longer than expected as Spain prepared to lift the World Cup trophy. Television cameras captured what appeared to be FIFA president Gianni Infantino guiding Trump away from the players so the team could celebrate together. The awkward exchange quickly became one of the most shared clips from the final, with countless memes and jokes appearing online within minutes.

The moment became even more controversial after social media users noticed something unusual about the official celebration photos. A commentator on Australia’s Special Broadcasting Service jokingly predicted while watching the live broadcast, “They’re gonna edit him out of that.”

Later, when Spain’s official social media accounts and FIFA shared photographs celebrating the champions, many users claimed Trump was missing from some of the images that focused entirely on the players lifting the trophy. The posts quickly attracted thousands of comments.

One person wrote, “Did you really cut Trump out of the photo? Infantino was trying to get him off the stage so Spain could celebrate.”

Another user posted, “They actually removed Trump from the picture. That’s hilarious.”

Others defended the decision, arguing the celebration should have been entirely about the players who had just won the biggest prize in world football. One commenter wrote that Trump had no reason to make himself part of Spain’s historic moment, while another praised the team for keeping the spotlight on the champions instead of politicians.

The World Cup final was not the first time Trump found himself at the centre of controversy during the tournament. Earlier in the competition, he claimed he had personally called FIFA president Gianni Infantino to overturn a red card and one-match suspension handed to U.S. striker Folarin Balogun before America’s knockout match against Belgium. The claim sparked widespread debate among football fans, many of whom questioned whether political figures should have any involvement in sporting disciplinary decisions.

Trump also attracted attention during a FIFA reception held at Trump Tower in New York, where he unexpectedly spoke about legendary Italian opera singer Luciano Pavarotti. During his speech, he claimed the two had shared a close friendship that few people knew about. The unexpected story left many listeners puzzled and quickly became another viral topic online.

By the end of the tournament, Spain’s World Cup triumph was being celebrated around the world, but many of the biggest conversations on social media were also about Trump’s appearances, the crowd’s reaction to him, the awkward trophy ceremony, and the debate over whether politicians should ever become part of a team’s biggest sporting celebration.

CFL linebacker dies in crash after driving wrong way with cannabis, alcohol in car

Canadian Football League linebacker Jayden Dalke was killed in a car crash Saturday night. He was 30 years old.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders captain was driving the wrong way on the highway before the crash, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a news release.

The crash also killed fellow driver Bhishma Rajyaguru, 22.

At the time of the crash, Dalke was returning to Regina after spending the Roughriders’ bye week in Leduc, his hometown.

Cannabis and alcohol were in Dalke’s vehicle at the time of the crash.

The RCMP received a report at approximately 8:30 pm CST of a silver SUV leaving a gas station without paying for fuel.

It was the same SUV involved in the crash about 30 minutes later.

“It is with tremendous sadness that we share the tragic news of Jayden’s passing,” the league said in a statement on Monday. “He was a passionate competitor who played with incredible heart. Off the field, he will be remembered for his leadership in the locker room and his dedication to the community. The CFL has lost a teammate, a Canadian brother and a friend. On behalf of the Board of Governors, our CFL family and the entire Canadian football community, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Jayden’s family, friends, the Saskatchewan Roughriders organization and all those whose lives were bettered through knowing him.”

Dalke was drafted 54th overall by Saskatchewan out of the University of Alberta in the sixth round of the 2022 CFL Canadian Draft.

He was a part of the 2025 Grey Cup-winning team that brought home the fifth championship in franchise history.

“A relentless warrior on the field, Jayden’s determination, toughness and work ethic inspired his teammates, who cared deeply for him and are heartbroken by his passing,” the team shared in a statement. “On and off the field, he was the true definition of what it means to be a Saskatchewan Roughrider.

“Our hearts go out to the entire Dalke family, who travelled the country to watch Jayden live his dream. We will miss him terribly and will never forget the impact he had on our lives and our team.”
